Dr Catherine McDougall

DR CATHERINE MCDOUGALL IS A GENERAL ORTHOPAEDIC AND ARTHROPLASTY SURGEON, WITH A SPECIAL INTEREST IN THE LOWER LIMB, PARTICULARLY KNEE AND HIP ARTHROPLASTY AND ORTHOPAEDICS IN THE ELDERLY.

 

Originally from Bellingen in the mid north coast of NSW, then Toowoomba, Catherine trained and worked as a physiotherapist prior to undertaking her Medical Degree at the University of Queensland. At the conclusion of her Orthopaedic Surgical training and after receiving a Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, she completed fellowships in Knee Surgery at the Gold Coast and in Hip and Knee Arthroplasty and Revision Arthroplasty in Edinburgh, UK. In 2021 she completed a  Graduate Certificate in Safety, Quality, Informatics and Leadership (SQIL) at Harvard University.


Catherine is the current Clinical Director of Surgery at the Surgical Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS) Metro North Hospital and Health Service, and is a Staff Specialist Surgeon at The Prince Charles Hospital. She is an Associate Professor at the University of Queensland School of Medicine, Co-Chair of the Australia and New Zealand Hip Fracture Registry (ANZHFR), Clinical Lead for the Getting it Right the First Time Qld Program, a member of the Australian Orthopaedic Association and the Arthroplasty Society of Australia, and is a Specialist Reservist with the Australian Defence Force.
